MDHA’s Resident Services Department has about 30 team members who help connect residents with programs and resources that support their goals and well-being. Staff also work closely with community partners to bring additional services and opportunities to the people and families we serve.

- Level 1: Refresher
- For those who have been out of school for a while and need assistance preparing for the HiSET exam to receive a High School Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Level 2: College Courses
- For those who have completed high school or received a High School Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Level 3: Trade Schools & Certifications
- For those who have a specialized educational interest or experience in a trade.
Employment
- Level 1: Pre-employment Preparation
- For those who have been out of the job market for a while and need help preparing to jump back in.
- Level 2: Job Skills Improvement
- For those who are underemployed and are looking to increase and improve their skills.
Homeownership
- Level 1: Learning
- For those interested in buying a home who want to learn more through the Financial Freedom Workshop and Homebuyers’ Club.
- Level 2: Goal Planning
- For those who have completed the Homebuyers’ Club and are ready for the next step. May include participation in the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program.
- Level 3: Mortgage Pre-approval
- For those looking to get approval for a mortgage and begin their home search.

Programs and Resources
The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program promotes employment and economic growth for MDHA residents and voucher program participants.

The MDHA Work Readiness Program helps individuals identify their barriers to work and advocate for their removal. This assistance can include driver’s license reinstatement services, expungement services, job opportunities and more.

The Financial Freedom Workshop teaches the tools of becoming successful and self-sufficient by understanding credit, increasing savings, managing money and more. Graduates may enroll in the Homebuyers’ Club.

MDHA staff and partners offer workforce development training, which includes career development plans, soft skills training, technical and skilled labor training and job/internship placement.

MDHA is now accepting applicants for the HiSET Program. This program will help you prepare to take the HiSET Exam, which provides the opportunity to earn a high school equivalency diploma (GED).

The Metro Public Health Department’s Nashville Strong Babies program provides case management services for pregnant, post-partum and parenting families.

Resident Associations are made up of MDHA residents who volunteer their time to organize events and resources for their neighbors. There are Resident Associations at 22 MDHA properties. Call the Resident Services Information Line to get involved or learn more.
