In early 2019, Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) Executive Director Jim Harbison announced that MDHA would fund a ConnectHome expansion to Napier Place and Sudekum Apartments as part of the Envision Napier and Sudekum (ENS) Transformation Plan. The ENS Plan emerged from a two-year planning process, which calls for a mixed-income, mixed-use community. This ConnectHome expansion into Napier Place and Sudekum Apartments allows MDHA to focus on the Uplifting People part of the Plan.
The expanded ConnectHome program kicked off in October 2019. When ConnectHome at Napier Place and Sudekum Apartments is complete, MDHA will have provided nearly 1,000 laptops with a one year of accidental damage protection, as well as two years of free high-speed home internet, to school-aged children in the two communities.
MDHA is taking prudent measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, so ConnectHome summer workshops will be held electronically.
MDHA is now accepting applications for high school students who are residents of Napier Place and Sudekum Apartments.
