2026 Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) Grant Program

The Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) is soliciting applications for the 2026-2027 Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program for projects that benefit people and their families with incomes of 80% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI) adjusted by family size and who are living with AIDS. The HOPWA program is the only federal program dedicated to the housing needs of people living with HIV/AIDS. These funds come from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and are administered by MDHA on behalf of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

All applications must be created and submitted electronically via the Neighborly Software system no later than 4 p.m. CDT Friday, Oct. 9, 2026.

There will be a pre-application meeting held via Zoom at 11:30 a.m. CDT on Tuesday, Sept.
29, 2026. A detailed link for the Zoom meeting can be found above and is included in Section 3 of the RFA. Questions regarding the RFA may be submitted until 12 p.m. CDT on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, and an addendum response will be sent to all contacts. The criteria for evaluating applications will be based on the items set forth in the RFA. Awards will be made to the most responsive and responsible applications, which in the judgment of MDHA, best meet the current needs and long-term goals of MDHA.
