Approval of Substantial Amendment 1 to the 2020 Action Plan to the 2018-2023 Consolidated Plan.
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has allocated $3,240,899 in Community Development Block Grant – Declared Disaster Recovery Funds to Nashville – Davidson County. The funds are to be used to address emergency community development needs resulting from tornados, wind damage, and flooding that impacted multiple communities in the County in March and May 2020.
HUD advised MDHA to amend the latest approved Action Plan to incorporate eligible CDBG-DDRF activities to assist with disaster recovery. The MDHA Board is being asked to approve Substantial Amendment 1 to the 2020-21 Action Plan to the 2018-2023 Consolidated Plan to allocate the additional CDBG-DDRF funding.
Following approval of MDHA’s Board of Commissioners, the Substantial Amendment will be presented to the Nashville Metropolitan Council for approval before submittal to HUD.
Approval to Award Emergency Solutions Grant CARES Act Funding to the Salvation Army of Nashville.
On June 9, 2020, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development allocated the second round of Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG-CV 2) funding to Nashville – Davidson County as authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). These special ESG-CV funds are to be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus among individuals and families who are homeless.
MDHA has awarded ESG-CV (2) funding to 10 nonprofit organizations through a competitive request for applications (RFA) process. MDHA requests approval to proceed with an ESG-CV award recommendation of $3,096,682 to The Salvation Army of Nashville for rapid rehousing and street outreach services to homeless populations.
The award is a single procurement activity above $1 million and requires the MDHA Board of Commissioners’ approval.
