MDHA-supported employment program set to launch | 2009-12-10

Entrepreneurial Guidance and Training, Inc. (EGT) hosted a luncheon and information session recently to provide area business leaders with details about its new Employment and Placement Services Program, which will serve low- and moderate-income adults, with an emphasis on residents of public housing. The program will focus on job readiness and developing relationships with employers for job placement.

EGT will operate the program through a $75,000 Community Development Block Grant-Recovery (CDBG-R) award administered by the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency. MDHA is responsible for more than $1.3 million in overall CDBG-R funding.

Speakers and guests at the information session included Benita Davis, Executive Director, EGT; Phil Ryan, Executive Director, MDHA; past participants of other EGT programs; EGT and MDHA staff; employer representatives; and community-based service providers.

Individuals interested in participating in the Employment and Placement Services Program may contact EGT at 742-0266.
